    Reading Terminal Market

Bucket List item #459 – Eat in the Reading Terminal Market Philadelphia, USA Hello, world! Today is going to be short and sweet due to the fact that I’m still sick, so I wanted to throw a bucket list check on the blog that was simple, yet very recommendable. Dave and I chose Philadelphia for our Vday locale last year. Sadly, we’re not doing a trip for Valentine’s Day for the first time ever this year. We’re really in money saving mode at the moment, so we’re taking a beat on the traveling for a sec. Anyway, we had such an amazing trip in Philly. I was simply astonished by…

    Bemelmans

Bucket List Item #452 – have a drink at Bemelmans at the Carlyle New York, USA Did you know there’s a bar entirely dedicated to the art of Ludwig Bemelmans? Rewind, do you know who Ludwig Bemelmans is? I bet you do, even if you don’t realize it. Bemelmans was a writer and illustrator of children’s book, most notably Madeline. In an old house in Paris that was covered in vines, lived twelve little girls in two straight lines. If you’re female and you grew up in the 90s, then you definitely know what I’m talking about. Even if you didn’t, chances are you grew up with the Madeline books…

    Oak Alley

Bucket List Item #428 – Oak Alley Plantation Louisiana, USA Just off the west bank of the Mississippi river in St. James Parish lies Oak Alley Plantation. This was one of the first ever items I remember having written down on my bucket list. You see, I’m a huge fan of Interview with the Vampire, but I never realized that Louis’ home was a real place you could visit. I don’t remember where this useful tid bit of knowledge came from, but I knew I had to go. So, when we decided to do New Orleans for our anniversary it was the number one priority. Oak Alley is one of…

    Little Havana

Bucket List item #419 – Little Havana Florida, USA I still haven’t taken a proper trip to Florida. I keep popping up in Florida unintentionally. However, exciting it may be to get some unexpected time in a new place, I would still love to go back and give proper credit to the state because I know it has endless wonders. Some years ago, whilst Dave and I were heading home from Saint Thomas, we had an unintentional 24 hours in Miami. The airline we were flying from the Virgin Islands had some technical issues with their systems and flights were being held or cancelled across the globe. We had a…

    Comedy Cellar

Bucket List item #359 – See a show @ Comedy Cellar New York, USA I’ve long fantasized about seeing a show at the Comedy Cellar. I’ve never been one to seriously follow comedians, but I love seeing them live. I’ve had this fantastical vision of a vibrant nightlife scene, teaming with energy, like you could feel the intensity just walking into the club. I used to fantasize about seeing a famous comedian there and after the show running into them at the Olive Tree Café. I’d magically be at the peak of my wit and regale them with hilarious stories and flirt and make this epic memory. Obviously, this little…

    Gladys’ Cafe

Bucket List Item #1285  – eat at Gladys’ Cafe Saint Thomas, Virgin Islands   When I first started this blog, I promised to eventually catch up and do posts about all of my previous bucket list checks. The flaw I failed to see in this plan was that some of these checks happened super early in my bucket list journey I wasn’t really thinking about documentation past physically checking an item off a list. As a result, you have an item like today’s check. I ate this wonderful food and had this amazing experience and I have no photos to show you. Well, I have one really bad one. It’s…

5 Parisian Desserts that are Better than Sex

True story. If you’ve ever been to Paris, you already know that literally every direction you look there are desserts. Decadent desserts. Devilishly decadent desserts. Devilishly decadent desserts that are begging to be desired, devoured and on very rare occasions divvied between friends or lovers IF and only if you really fucking love them. The good news about Paris desserts is that it’s nearly impossible to go wrong. That goes for food in general. You’re not going to walk into a patisserie and buy a shit bon bon. I’m also not a Paris expert, although it is a goal of mine. *maybe someday* What I can say is that before…

    An Adventure in Garden City

Once upon a time, on a Saturday afternoon, two friends journeyed to a far away land. Beyond Manhattan, over the East River, through Brooklyn and even Queens, the girls ventured to the unknown: Garden City.   In true Lynzi-fashion, whilst perusing Eventbrite, I found tickets to a Victorian tea party. The location: The See House (I think it serves as the church rectory for the Cathedral of the Incarnation). All I could see was Victorian high tea for $30. I mean, that’s cheap! A little Googling provided a street view of a lovely church and an adorable Victorian home. It looked legit, despite my inability to find any other images…

High Tea at the Brown Palace

Bucket List Item #2494 – have high tea at the Brown Palace Denver, Colorado It’s the most wonderful time of the year! (Who else can’t read that line without at least humming?) Queue the angry fans for speaking about Christmas before Thanksgiving. Christmas is coming whether you like it or not and I want you Denverites to be prepared. There are so many things to do in the city around the holiday season and after doing this once I will never go back. I can’t make it this year, but the following year I will be back with a vengeance.   I grew up in Colorado sort of knowing about…

Bucket List Item #2846 – eat @ DŌ New York, New York Get out your favorite wine, beer, booze or whatever because there’s a drinking game afoot. As you all well know I basically speak cookie. I love to eat cookies, bake them and discover new ones. Cookies are life. I probably mention cookies at least once a day and if you drink every time I say “cookie” you’ll definitely be lit by the time this blog concludes. cookies Cookies COOKIES You know, if you type the word “cookie” enough it starts to look like you’re spelling it wrong. Cookie is quite a strange word now that I think about…
