Reflections on Bipolar and Sleeping Schedules
It’s wild that as I’m finishing this blog, so much has changed. I started with an outline of this that I made in bed one night. I was just thinking and decided I wanted to share. Then, as most people in a depressive cycle feel, I felt like it was too hard to finish this blog. I put it on my to do list everyday and everyday I avoided it. It’s been about a month. I finally decided to chat with my psychiatrist about it. You see, since we found a good balance earlier this year, I’ve been scared to touch it. It’s a delicate balance. I remember two years…
Valentine’s Day in Quarantine – 10 Ideas You Can Do at Home
Valentine’s Day doesn’t quite hit the same when you have to stay home. I get it! But that doesn’t mean it can’t still be fun! Do you remember early quarantine last year when I was doing different quarantine dates each week? Dave and I made a pillow fort one night, we had a tea party, we went for a hike, had a spa day, etc. I was big on not letting date night die. You see, Dave and I had NEVER skipped a date night in the entirety of our relationship without a damn good reason, such as one of us being sick or having an obligation like a wedding.…
10 Books to Read for Black History Month
Back in 2017 when I first moved to NYC, I had no idea the education I was about to get. I think it’s a given that no matter how prepared you think you are for NYC, it’s still going to backhand you and blow smoke in your face. Dave and I were feeling good about our move and feeling very confident in our apartment hunt. We thought we could afford a halfway decent apartment in a nice neighborhood. Yeah, we were wrong. Once you factor in utilities and other expenses, things are more expensive than you realize. Not to mention we just couldn’t find a building that would allow three…
The Most Comfy Bedding: Brooklinen, Riley Home or The Company Store?
My bedroom got a serious upgrade this year, let me tell you what! Dave and I had a lot of conversations towards the end of last year about how tired we are of shitty bedding. We’re adults in our 30s and we still err to the budget options at Target. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. We were just desperately seeking a better night’s rest, so we decided it was the time to upgrade. Like, a serious upgrade. We are leveling up! So, we did some research on the most loved brands for sheets, comforters and pillows. Then, we ordered from multiple companies and just returned what we didn’t…
My Everyday Makeup Routine
God only knows why anyone asked for this (I am definitely no makeup pro), but I’ll share the shit I know and love anyway. I will say that I think I’m fairly good at my everyday makeup routine. I have it pretty down pat and I feel confident I can look fairly fly. 🙂 So, I’m going to go through every item I use for my daily makeup routine, which is the look pictured in the photo. I generally stick in the browns, pinks and oranges for my day to day look. I just feel like it goes with everything. No need to fret about it clashing with a look.…
