…and burgundy! And also, I wore this on a Saturday, but I just couldn’t resist a good title.
I’ve been so into the monotone and duotone looks lately. They’re just my favorite! And this was the perfect fit for a temperate, summer day. I was lucky that the day I chose to wear this pink number was a cooler day because this dress is a bit too heavy for a typical, hot NYC day.
Let’s dissect this bad boy a bit. Before doing so this entire look, aside from the shoes, is from Rent the Runway! They are truly a godsend. (Here’s a $30 RTR credit for your first rental or membership). I don’t remember the last time I bought clothes that weren’t super essentials. Well, I suppose I did buy a few $20 dresses from ASOS recently, but a girl must have something to lounge around this house in and get covered in dog hair, right?
ByTimo has been a recent favorite of mine because I just love their summer patterns. However, my favorite thing about this dress was the beautiful sleeves and the fact that it legitimately fit a busty girl properly without being too big. Can you believe I went a whole day without popping out of the buttons once? Serious win!
I paired this with a Loeffler Randall shopper tote. Totes are a general favorite of mine because I always have a book with me, so I really need something that can both fit a book and handle the weight of one. The thick handles were perfect for this and I love the ribbon touch to keep it closed.
For earrings I chose the Joanna Laura Constantine monochrome earrings. I love using a bold statement earring with a duotone look and I somehow managed to find literally the perfect color combo for the dress. I try not to overdo it with the jewelry otherwise when I’m wearing large earring. I just keep it simple otherwise. I’m not saying there’s not a time and place for bold everything though. I’ve been thinking about doing a post about using statement jewelry. Who would be into that?
My sunnies are by Elizabeth and James. I love the modern take on a classic frame. Very 50s, yet the slimmer build fits what’s on trend now with the ultra slim and graphic sunglasses you’re seeing everywhere. I think they’re great for all face shapes, too!
The finishing touch were my Guess heels. Sadly, these bad boys reached their end the same day of this shoot, but I’ve had them for over tens years! I think you can call those vintage now, yes? I have pictures of me in these from my 21st birthday. No need to do the math there, guys, Kthx. Who ever said affordable pieces can’t last? Honestly, if I had taken care of them better they’d still be alive today. I tend to treat shoes like plants: straight up neglect. I’m the worst.
So, what do ya think? Have I inspired you to wear pink next Wednesday? Send me your pink looks, please!
