It’s no secret that every plus-size woman is forever on the hunt for the perfect bra. It’s no secret that every WOMAN is forever on the hunt for the perfect bra. The fact of the matter is that the answer to the age-old question is truly variable.
All I can do is try my best to help the masses, and my contribution is testing some products for you and giving some very honest reviews. I’ve heard some amazing things about the bras at Hips & Curves, so I decided to pick three bras and give the site a test. I’m going to start from least favorite to favorite. Please know that I am a very discerning bra owner and I’m damn picky. Also, what works for me may not work for you.
This was my least favorite of the three, but I may still recommend it. I loved how fluid the lines of the bra were underneath a sheer top. I think the look of it was very flattering. It has removeable straps and you can wear it a number of ways and it did stand the test as a strapless bra, although I forever wonder if there is a strapless bra out there that is really and truly great for busty ladies. The jury is still out! There were three problems for me with this bra, but all would be variable to change if I sized up. I ordered my proper size (and made sure to triple measure per their size chart), but this bra was still snug in the band. As a result, I also dealt with some spillage in the armpit/back fat area, which is not a good look for anyone. The wiring itself is also very stiff, so it’s not the comfiest. That being said, I do think there’s a time and a place for the type of bra. It’s what I want to wear under an outfit where I want the ladies to stay in place. I really do think my problems with this bra could be fixed by sizing up. If you are interested in this particular bra, I highly recommend ordering two sizes and returning the one you don’t like because returns are free!
Pretty Molded Cup T-Shirt Bra – $29.95 or 2 for $42
As the description says, this is definitely a great t-shirt bra. It looks pretty darn seamless and the nude color was great for my skin tone. I really liked the smooth underwire cups and I felt like this had a lot more give, so it was on the comfortable side of a wire bra. The little lace details are a great touch and makes what is a seemingly simple and practical bra quite pretty. I felt sexy in this one, but also functional. I also wore it all day while going Marie Kondo-crazy on my closet and it didn’t bother me until the end of the day, which I think is a win for a wire bra. I give it a solid B+.
Zoey Lace Bralette with T-Back – $39.95, but currently on sale for $29.95
Uggghhh this bra though! I’ve wanted to wear it every day since I bought it. There was a time in my life where I never would have worn a bralette because I had this crazy notion that the closer my tits were to my face the better. Fuck that though. Bralettes are where it’s at and this one did not disappoint. It is beyond comfortable (I fell asleep in it last night because I forgot I was wearing it), it gives a nice shape to your breasts and it’s just a really pretty bra. Dave loves it, if you know what I mean. It was his favorite of the three as well. I actually went and ordered another bralette from their site after this because I loved this bra so much.
I really had a blast testing out some bras for my blog and I want to do a lot more of this. If you have a brand of bra you’d like me to try, please let me know in the comments. As a matter of fact, if you have anything you’d like me to test out for you, please let me know!
