Amish Country
Bucket list item #974 Amish country
Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, USA
Man moons ago, Dave and I ventured to Pennsylvania for the wedding of our friends. We stayed in Harrisburg, PA, which was basically Amish country.
Seeing the Amish in real life was one of my earliest bucket list checks. You see, I didn’t start to really write down these goals until after Dave and I started dating, and (I believe) this was only our second check.
I have to admit, there isn’t a lot to tell you about this day even though it was one of the most fun days of my life! Basically, we rented a car and spent the day stalking Amish people. We drove around the countryside and watched them. We got brave enough to try and speak to some to “ask for directions” once and were fascinated by their accents. And they were so nice, yet very weary of us. We also took a few pictures, even though I know we shouldn’t have. Yeah, that was bad…
You see, the Amish are a bit like a cult to me and that’s so intriguing. It’s wild! So, we were easily able to spend about six hours basically people watching. We also met some really friendly cows and just had a hay day taking pictures. It was endless fun without a real direction, and sometimes those are the best days.
What an adventure we had! My only regret is not buying a quilt for my mother because I know she loves their quilting. Next time, Amish country. Next time!

Side note: my dress here is no longer available because this was YEARS ago, but I’ve gathered some affordable black maxi alternates available at Asos right now.
