Many moons ago, when I was planning my own wedding, I was faced with the bridesmaids dress debacle. It’s always such a hard decision to be made and price point is always the real kicker. I got really lucky in that all of my friends could swing my choice in bridesmaid dresses, but I know that’s not the reality for most women out there. I never had to think about my what options would be if I was shopping on a budget. All these years later and I’ve just now discovered a solve: Ever Pretty!
I’ve talked about these dresses in some previous posts, which you can read here and here, but I had never tried their formal pieces. I was gifted two dresses from them recently, one of which is this bridesmaids dress in dusty blue. Of course, I don’t really need a bridesmaid dress, but part of the reason why I love this gown is how versatile the piece is. This isn’t just for a wedding party, it’s also for a wedding guest, it’s for frolicking in a field, it’s for a special dinner and it’s for you just because. I don’t think it needs to be pigeonholed or worn for one purpose. It’s just too pretty!
Let’s break down the dress though. I want you to really understand how much bang you get for your buck. So, this dress $49.99, which is crazy affordable as far as bridesmaid dresses go. According to Google, the average bridesmaid dress costs around $150 and then $300 after all accessories and extras. Being a bridesmaid is no cheap occasion. This dress is literally a third of the average cost. So, what are you sacrificing? Honestly, not much!
I can speak from experience both as a bridesmaid and a bride shopping for her bridesmaids that finding the right dress for your bridal party is both complicated and the quality can vary wildly even at a higher price point. My bridesmaids got Vera Wang for David’s Bridal. You know me. I love designer, but I’m also a girl on a budget, so we needed to find a happy medium. Along the way we definitely tried on some dresses in the $100-$150 range that were terribly made and the same goes for shopping dresses for other weddings. If this dress would have been tossed in with the dresses we were shopping I wouldn’t have batted an eye. I would have though it belonged.
When I first pulled this dress out of the packaging, I was unsure, but once this dress was steamed it was passable as a midrange bridesmaid dress, but at $49.99 that’s a steal. Besides, as much as we like to say we’ll wear our bridesmaid dresses again, we usually don’t, so why not choose something that costs a little less? It’s just a rarity to have occasions where it makes sense to wear formal wear for the average adult. As much as I like to encourage pulling out formal wear, I know you probably won’t. The only qualm I have is that this runs a bit small, so I would size up. Otherwise it’s really a homerun no-brainer for the bridal party on a budget. Besides, you can return within 30 days of your purchase, so it’s worth checking out if you’re on the hunt for bridesmaid dressed or formal wear. You can find a full range of affordable bridesmaid dresses and some evening gown options as well!
