Ethical sneakers by CARIUMA

Based out of Rio, Brasil, the sneaker brand CARIUMA carries shoes you can look good in AND feel good about wearing. I was gifted a beautiful pair of OCA sneakers by CARIUMA and I’ve been blown away by the quality.

I chose the OCA because they are made out of canvas made with fair-trade cotton. CARIUMA takes every part of the sneaker-making process very seriously and is dedicated to minimizing their environmental impact, which means cotton harvested using the latest technology to efficiently care for the soil and conserve water. They also take great care of their farmers and pay them fair wages. Plus, no trees are harmed in the harvesting of their rubber as they use a process called tapping to safely extract sap from the trees. The process from start to finish is thought out in every step, so when you receive a CARIUMA shoe you can feel good about your purchase. They do use leather products, which I did not realize was in the shoe before receiving it, so I want to be honest with you that wearing these shoes (even the canvas) means wearing a product that is partially made from leather.

But what are these shoes really like to wear? Heaven, actually! They are like walking on clouds. CARIUMA creates signature insoles using memory foam and they’re the bees knees. I could run and play in these shoes all day. And the look is on point. Every little detail with the logo is placed in such a smart way and the color options are seemingly endless. I went with white because I was in desperate need of some white sneakers, but I would like to get a second pair in another color. Honestly, there are so many options I don’t know what I will pick, but I’m leaning toward the green. I had a green pair of sneakers in middle school that I had so much love for and I’ve never had green sneakers since. I remember I bought them when I thought I would try and be a skateboarder. I bought the shoes and the skateboard and that phase lasted me about two weeks before I threw in the towel, but the kicks stuck!

I digress. The point is that these shoes have really had a lasting effect for me, and I just love them so much. Check out my CARIUMA OCA low sneakers and you can also have some environmentally conscious footwear. You’re welcome. 😀
