Coober Pedy
In case you haven’t heard of Coober Pedy, it’s almost like Australian folklore. I’d heard stories, but it was hard to believe there was really a city where it got so hot that people chose to live underground. Where mining for opals wasn’t a job, but a way of life. A place where the locals were so used to flies that they don’t blink when they mosey across their eyeballs. The truth is, I literally saw a man not flinch or move a muscle while flies danced on his nose. The truth is that all of these things are the truth. We rolled into Coober Pedy on a fairly hot…
The Beauty of Uluru
Bucket list check #661 – Ayers Rock Yulara, Australia My beloved Uluru, aka Ayers Rock. Uluru is one of those huge bucket list checks you look forward to for a lifetime. It’s like seeing the Eiffel Tower or Niagara Falls. It’s a big check and it’s a damn big rock. Before I went, I had to understand one thing: what makes this a rock and not a mountain? Well, a rock is one solid piece while mountains are made of rocks. Uluru is the largest rock monolith in the world! So, what else makes this rock so cool aside from being, well, really fucking big? Uluru is a UNESCO…
The Grounds of Alexandria
Bucket list item #2035 – The Grounds of Alexandria Sydney, Australia Who wins for best brunch in Sydney? Ding ding ding! It’s Grounds of Alexandria! This may come as a shock after my blog about Cuppa Flower, which was absolutely delicious, but Grounds of Alexandria takes the cake. However, this is much more than a brunch spot. The Grounds are huge and there are endless wonders. You can shop for foods and flowers, stop by the donut shop, have a coffee, stroll through gardens and Arabian arches, eat in multiple places and even pet livestock. Plus, they make everything in house. Hell, there’s a bakery on the premise, of…
Hacienda Sydney
Bucket list item #2036 – have a drink at Hacienda Sydney, Australia So, what is Hacienda? Hacienda is a bar and restaurant inside Pullman Quay Grand Sydney Harbour. It’s inspired by 1950’s Miami and boasts some beautiful views of the Sydney Harbour. The views are great and all, but I was here for the drinks. I did some research on the best places for a drink in Sydney, and Hacienda came up over and over and over. Well, I have to say mission accomplished, which is a tall order for Dave and I because we are picky about our mixed beverages. We can be such snobs sometimes. I can’t say…
Cuppa Flower
Bucket list item #1573 – eat at Cuppa Flower Sydney, Australia If you’re a pancake connoisseur, then I sure have the place for you. Hell, if you merely like breakfast then this place is for you. Cuppa Flower, my love, you are so damn good! When you walk in the door, you’re greeted with a plethora of flowers and cute shit because you need that to prepare you for what’s to come. I mean, you couldn’t handle the visually pretty overload otherwise. You need that prep work. This is one of those restaurants where everything they throw at you is begging to be photographed from the flower art in your…
