    Black Summer Dress

I love a classic summer dress. This DVF number can easily look vintage or modern, but I generally like to land somewhere in the middle. You know, a little from column A and a little from column B. In all sincerity, this outline in a simple color in buttons is one of the more versatile things you can have in your summer wardrobe. You can wear a top underneath for a peek of something fun, where a slip dress underneath and unbotton and belt for some whimsy, add a straw hat and go pastoral, go with pops of colors or patterns for a bold look, etc. As I’m typing this,…

    Playing Dress-Up

I LOVE to play dress up. I can confidently say I’ve been playing dress up now for 30+ years. Achievement unlocked!   However, I have to admit that it’s been many years since I had a proper playtime set-up. I mean, I have a closet and all, but I haven’t had a vanity in my adult life or fun storage. I think the best time for make believe in my life to date was from the ages of maybe 3-6. I can’t remember my exact age, but in this span of years I received the ultimate gift. There’s some space under some built in cabinets in my mother’s dining room.…

    Crawlers

Is there anything more elegant than a nice set of crawler earrings? As an early birthday present, my mom bought me this pair of Joanna Laura Constantine crawlers and I can’t get enough of them. They look beautiful with everything. The particular pair is no longer available to purchase, but you can rent them from Rent the Runway and just buy them if you end up loving them. That’s what we did. I told my mom how much I loved my rental and boom! Best mom ever! I tell people to do this all the time. I’m not sure if anything every does. Lol. Anyway, I love how a nice…

    Husk

Bucket List item #461 – Eat @ Husk Charleston, South Carolina, USA Husk was a Dave bucket list item. I enjoyed in thoroughly, but this was for him. You see, Sean Brock is basically Dave’s spirit animal. His style of cooking, personality, outlook on life, etc. really speaks to Dave. Anytime we see him on a show or in an interview I just know that the two of them would be friends. Maybe they should be friends! Sean Brock, are you reading this? Anyway, over the years with Dave I’ve heard his name come up more times than I can count. “Sean Brock’s cook book is so great!” “Sean Brock…

    Bold Red and Baby Blue

As of late, I’ve been really trying to expand my color horizons when it comes to wardrobe. A lot of days I tend to be the most colorful person on the street (which still shocks me now that I live in NYC), but I’m exploring new color combinations. For a large portion of my life, outfits were either monotone or binary, but why? I don’t know! Maybe because it was easy? The older I get the more color and patterns I want. The newest challenge I’ve set for myself is mixing and matching in different ranges of tonality, like a deep tone and a pastel. So, here I go! This…
